What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy

Cognitive Hypnotherapy differs from traditional hypnotherapy because there are no scripts and I utilise your uniqueness.  I don’t use labels and don't advocate a ‘one size fits all’ solution to any of life’s problems.  Instead, I use a range of techniques drawn from different disciplines that I have found to be the most effective tools for change so far. These are moulded into an approach tailored to your specific needs.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy works to dehypnotise you - yes, that’s right, dehypnotise you from those moments when you are hijacked into unwanted behaviour.  All behaviour has a positive intention, and over 95% of what I do is subconsciously driven.  Our subconscious mind's primary purpose is to protect us from harm, but sometimes it gets it wrong, and the behaviour it produces is unhelpful.

This happens because the information in your subconscious mind is old and needs to be updated.  By updating the thoughts and beliefs in the subconscious mind, the messages it sends will be accurate, up to date and helpful to you.

What is hypnosis?

What is Hypnosis

Hypnosis, or trance as it is otherwise known, is a state experienced when a person becomes highly focused on a thought or activity. This can include daydreaming, reading a book, watching TV, driving or focusing on any task or thought. Trance is experienced by everyone daily, and a person will drift in and out of trance throughout their day, spending approximately 90% of their day in a trance. It is a normal part of the fluctuating nature of our mental life.

An example of being in a trance is when you are conversing and drift off and start thinking about something completely unrelated. Suddenly you realise you have drifted off and return to the conversation, probably missing the last part of what was said. You have been in a trance, and your attention has narrowed and fixated on your thoughts as you drifted off. During this time, you carried out an autonomous action of engaging in conversation.

What is NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)

The NLP techniques I use are processes that use speech and thought to reframe a belief or an experience.  Reframing can change a thought or feeling from stressful to peaceful or scary to calm or traumatic to benign and the change is permanent.  Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a set of principles and techniques aimed at enhancing self-awareness, increasing confidence, building communication skills, and motivating positive actions.
