If you're reading this, there's a good chance anxiety has been making your life harder than it needs to be. Perhaps you lie awake at night with your mind racing, feel that familiar knot in your stomach before certain situations, or find yourself avoiding things you know, logically, aren't actually dangerous. You're not alone and more importantly, it doesn't have to stay this way.

Why Anxiety Feels So Hard to Shift

One of the most frustrating things about anxiety is that knowing you shouldn't feel anxious rarely makes the anxiety go away. That's because anxiety isn't a logical problem, it's a subconscious one. It lives beneath the level of conscious thought, which is exactly why telling yourself to "calm down" or "stop worrying" so rarely works.

Your subconscious mind's job is to protect you. When it decides something is a threat, even if that threat is a social situation, a plane journey, or a difficult conversation, it triggers the same fight-or-flight response your ancestors used to escape predators. It's trying to help you. It's just got the wrong information.

How Cognitive Hypnotherapy Works for Anxiety

Cognitive Hypnotherapy works differently to traditional talking therapies because it doesn't just address the conscious, logical mind, it works directly with the subconscious patterns that are driving the anxious response in the first place.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy works by identifying when and how anxiety was learned, because it was learned, which means it can be unlearned. Using a natural state of focused attention called trance, the outdated subconscious beliefs and responses that drive anxiety can be gently updated and replaced with ones that are far more helpful and accurate.

What I love about this approach is that it's entirely personalised to you. There are no scripts, no one-size-fits-all techniques. How your anxiety shows up is unique to you, and so is the way we work with it.

Where PSYCH-K and NLP Come In

For some clients, anxiety is rooted in deeply held beliefs about their own safety, their worth, or what the world is like. This is where I also draw on PSYCH-K and NLP techniques. PSYCH-K works directly at the subconscious level to transform limiting beliefs that may be fuelling the anxiety, while NLP techniques help to reframe the thoughts and memories that keep triggering anxious responses. Together, these approaches complement Cognitive Hypnotherapy beautifully for results that are both deep and lasting.

What Can Cognitive Hypnotherapy Help with Specifically?

Anxiety shows up in many different ways, and I regularly work with clients experiencing:

  • Generalised anxiety and constant worry

  • Panic attacks

  • Social anxiety

  • Driving anxiety

  • Health anxiety

  • Work and performance anxiety

  • Anxiety following trauma or difficult life events

  • Physical symptoms of anxiety such as insomnia, IBS, and fatigue

How Quickly Will I See Results?

Most clients notice a difference after their very first session. Significant, lasting change typically happens within four to six sessions, which makes Cognitive Hypnotherapy one of the most efficient therapeutic approaches available for anxiety. Research has shown it to be 71% effective for anxiety and depression, compared to 42% for approaches like CBT (Mental Health Review Journal, 2015).

What My Clients Say

Here's what one client shared after working with me on anxiety:

"In just 3 sessions Samantha managed to help me significantly with my stress and anxiety. I am a much calmer person now. Her personalised meditations were an added bonus. 5 stars from me!"

And another, who came to me following a traumatic event:

"My anxiety has greatly reduced across the board, not just when driving but in everyday life. I feel calmer, more in control, and far more at ease than I have in a long time."
